I just looked at the stats at that game, and it's just reeks of a fluke result.

Possession
Man City 72%
Leicester 28%

Shots
Man City 16
Leicester 7

So pray for the fluke result!

Re: Team for Man City.
I know it was earlier in the season but we have to look at the way Leicester played them. Ok a different and better back 4 but I think it's the only way. A slighly more attacking play by us because we can't get the luck against City they are to good going forward.
Will be intersting to see their line up tonight, hope Foden and De Bruyne start, Sterling too but their fitness levels mean they can and want to play 2 games a week.

Re: Team for Man City.
Everyone being fit Moyes will go with the same 11 that beat the y##s no doubt, although I don’t think we should start the same 11 this time out.

It’s a bit of a bonus game this in terms of we’re not expecting to get a result, so if we could pinch a point or dare I say it 3 then it’ll do no end for the teams already high confidence.

I’d be inclined to leave Antonio on the bench and bring him on when needed and go with the false 9 just to get another body in the midfield, worked well against Sheffield utd although obviously this is a different game altogether.

We need another ball player in there with Lingard, one thing Sunday our ball retention could have done with being better, for all his hard work and endeavour Fornals, (good team player as he is) gives the ball away too cheaply for me, we can’t afford to keep giving the ball back to City when we get it back. So I’d be inclined to swap him with Benrahma.

Apart from his dodgy throw to Cresswell beni had a decent 20 odd minutes and got us up the field a couple of times, he carries the ball well and we’ll need that against City. Arsenal got in there face a bit 2nd half and give em a go, so maybe theirs something there for us if we’re brave enough.

He will definitely play Fornals for this game, he loves his energy and work rate

We need to cut off their supply from midfield

Re: Team for Man City.
I agree to an extent, but we break so many times and get into good positions and yet our percentage of getting a shot off from these positions is quite low.

Fornals and Bowen do this a lot, it's frustrating as both are capable.. Bowen doesn't seem to look up enough. Fornals does and spots the pass but often fluffs his lines.

Re: Team for Man City.
The reason for our low pass accuracy rating is that we play far too many "hit and hope" long balls, either to the striker or to one of the wingers. If it's aimed at Antonio or Soucek, the hope is to win the ball in the air and find a secondary team-mate. If it's played up one of the flanks, it's for the winger to chase, in the hope that he'll get there first. In both cases it's nothing more than a percentage ball and the rate of success is pretty low. We do it right from the kick-off and it's the one aspect of our play that really frustrates me. It's all very well doing it if you're under pressure and need to clear the lines, but to do it routinely is inexplicable and I am amazed that Moyes tolerates it as much as he does. We have the best midfield we've had for decades so we should always be looking to play through it, not over the top of it.

Re: Team for Man City.
As the exile apart from Bowen in place of Benrahma, bring the latter on in the second half.

We should have a disciplined go at them, no point in claiming we are a top 4 club if we are going to sit back and defend. In our favour is they have a big match tonight and we are really fit these days, they have to lose or at least drop a point sometime. Just hope we have a decent ref!

Gaffer - Around 30%.

Which is why when you get it and try to hit on the counter it's always handy to be able to pass to one of own players ;-)

Fraser, accuracy is ok if you’ve got the ball, what was the possession against the spuds.

Gaffer - Very true we had 62% pass accuracy Sunday, that's fucking abysmal.

Re: Team for Man City.
Just think Moyes will go as defensive as possible, in fact if he could he’d have 3 goalies for a start, but basically the only way to play City is to have a go at them. It’s no good having only 1 up front as he’ll just lose the ball and that’s City doing another 50 passes. We’re not good enough at passing and keeping 5he ball, even Sheffield United do that better then us.

COYI - is this the same as your guarantee that he would be the one missing out in Lingards first game, but if he gets picked and then not picked three games later you come back and say I told you so....as predicted... Just took longer for my guarantee to become valid?

Hammer and Pickle 7:57 Tue Feb 23
Re: Team for Man City.
Agree with exile that the back three and midfield basically pick themselves but I get the impression that Fornals has the better understanding with Lingard than does Benrahma so he'll get the nod.

I especially like the way Johnson is complementing Cresswell and, with the rest so solid, a CLEAN SHEET against the de facto champions may indeed not be beyond this team.

Re: Team for Man City.
With City’s versatility, and inter-changing tactics, it’s difficult to hold any firm system against them. You can’t shackle certain players and you can’t target certain playmakers to reduce their impact because others pop up and take their place. It’s not like against Villa where you double down on Grealish thereby nullifying their creativity. City operate way above this level. What you can do, though, is take to the pitch with your own positive attitude. So, rather than rolling over, rather than saying it’s a free shot so to hell with it, rather than sitting back and waiting for the inevitable dam to burst, rather than taking yourself OUT of the competition by thinking these are not the games where we can expect to pick up anything, - fucking change it. Take a dose of Soucek’s attitude when he gets clobbered round the head but gets up ready to fight again or Declan’s surging run back to block a shot and....just fucking COMPETE. Things have changed. We are not what we were.
